GFRC Column Covers
Architectural Mall manufactures GFRC column covers for projects that need the look of cast stone or solid concrete in a decorative, non-load-bearing column system. GFRC stands for Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete, and these GFRC columns are made to fit around a separate structural support.
GFRC column covers can be produced in round, square, tapered, non-tapered, plain, fluted, classical, and custom profiles. Virtually all of our cast fiberglass column profiles can also be produced in GFRC.
Because the covers are made in split sections, vertical joint lines will be visible after installation. Horizontal joints may also be present when the size or height of the column requires multiple stacked sections. The size of each section varies depending on the column diameter, profile, and finished height.
GFRC column covers are available in paint-grade and pre-finished options for residential, commercial, restoration, and custom architectural projects. For projects that require a load-bearing column rather than a decorative cover, explore our Fiberglass columns and Polymer Stone columns.

Paint-Grade and Pre-Finished GFRC
GFRC column covers are available in paint-grade and pre-finished color options. Paint-grade GFRC is intended to be painted after installation, allowing the final color to be selected on site.
Pre-finished GFRC uses integral color, with pigment added to the material during production. Custom color matching is available, and because the color is incorporated into the material rather than applied as field paint, pre-finished GFRC generally requires less ongoing maintenance.
Section Sizes and Joint Lines
GFRC column covers are manufactured in sections that fit around the structural support. Vertical joint lines are visible where the sections meet, and horizontal joints may also be present when multiple sections are stacked. The size and number of sections vary depending on the column diameter, profile, and overall height. For some designs, these visible joints are intentionally incorporated into the stone or concrete-style appearance.

Other GFRC Architectural Products
GFRC can also be used to create coordinating architectural elements beyond column covers, including cornice, window and door surrounds, facade details, and custom architectural features. Using GFRC across multiple elements can help create a consistent stone or concrete-style appearance throughout a project.

GFRC Column Cover FAQs
Are GFRC column covers load-bearing?
No. GFRC column covers are decorative and are designed to fit around a separate structural support. For projects that require the column itself to carry structural loads, Fiberglass Columns or Polymer Stone Columns may be better options.
What styles are available for GFRC column covers?
GFRC column covers can be produced in a wide range of styles and profiles, including round, square, tapered, non-tapered, plain, fluted, twist-rope, barrel, recessed-panel, classical, and custom designs.
Can GFRC column covers be custom made?
Yes. Custom profiles and sizes can be produced to meet specific architectural and project requirements. The size and configuration of the sections will depend on the column diameter, profile, and overall height.
Are GFRC column covers available in different colors?
Yes. GFRC column covers are available in paint-grade and pre-finished color options. Paint-grade GFRC is intended to be painted after installation. Pre-finished GFRC uses integral color, with pigment added to the material during production. Custom color matching is also available.
Will GFRC column covers have visible joint lines?
Yes. GFRC column covers are manufactured in sections, so vertical joint lines will be visible where the sections meet. Horizontal joints may also be present when multiple sections are stacked to reach the required column height. On some projects, these visible joints are intentionally incorporated into the stone or concrete-style appearance.
What warranty is available for GFRC column covers?
Architectural Mall’s GFRC column covers are backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
