Round columns are used for both decorative and load-bearing applications on porches, entryways, porticos, interior spaces, and commercial buildings. The right material depends on your structural requirements, finish preference, and installation needs
- Fiberglass Columns → Designed for decorative and load-bearing interior and exterior applications. Extremely durable, decay resistant, and low maintenance. Significantly lighter than natural stone or concrete while offering high tensile strength and structural capacity. Available in round, square, fluted, tapered, non-tapered, and twist-rope designs with architecturally correct proportions. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
- Synthetic (Polymer) Stone Columns → Manufactured using polymer resin, marble dust, and pigment for a fully permeated stone-like finish. Lighter than natural stone yet strong, durable, and load-bearing. Available in smooth or textured finishes with multiple capital and base options. 5-Year Limited Warranty.
- FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) Columns Covers → A lighter fiberglass alternative predominantly comprised of fiberglass strand. Commonly ordered as surrounds or two halves for quick re-assembly around structural supports, with factory-assembled options available. Standard white gelcoat finish with custom color and texture options available. Primarily decorative applications. Limited Lifetime Warranty.
- GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) Columns Covers → Manufactured from a cementitious mixture reinforced with alkali-resistant glass fibers, with pigments and aggregates used to create a stone-like appearance. GFRC column covers are segmented and are heavier than Polymer Stone but lighter than solid concrete. Available in a wide range of sizes, colors, and textures, including custom options. These non-load-bearing covers are installed around a separate structural support. 2-Year Limited Warranty.

Need Decorative Round Column Wraps?
If you need to cover an existing post, lally column, steel support, or framed structural support instead of installing a full round column, a split column wrap may be the better option. Decorative round column wraps are made in sections so they can fit around an existing support while creating the appearance of a finished round column.
Column wraps and covers are decorative and rely on the existing post or support underneath. They should not be used to hide rot, movement, leaning posts, or structural damage.

Are round columns load-bearing?
Some round columns are available for load-bearing applications, depending on the material, size, and product configuration. Fiberglass and Polymer Stone columns can be supplied for load-bearing applications when properly specified and installed.
